ABOUT THE ADVENTURE

A String of Fires Brings Danger to Trout Springs

During story time at the local bookstore, Rooster and Squid hear a real fire engine racing through town. An empty warehouse is burning, and it is the second unexplained fire in only a few months. When evidence suggests that both fires may have been started intentionally, the people of Trout Springs begin to worry.

Waylon, the firehouse dog, is trained to detect substances used to start fires. While visiting the local auto shop, his powerful nose recognizes a familiar smell. Gasoline and other suspicious items are missing from the garage, leaving Rooster and Squid wondering whether the fires could be connected to someone working nearby.

Then smoke rises from Mr. Strudel’s newly renovated bakery. The danger becomes personal when Cupcake, Mr. Strudel’s food-loving cat, cannot be found. As firefighters rush to control the flames, new evidence pushes the investigation closer to the auto shop.

Rooster and Squid must pay attention to the clues and help protect their friends before anyone else is placed in danger. At home, Benji’s unusual approach to potty training adds plenty of laughter to an otherwise serious week.

Auto Shop Arsonist is an exciting mystery about bravery, community, and helping others during an emergency. Young readers can investigate alongside Rooster and Squid without learning who started the fires or how the final confrontation unfolds.
